Ko te Gem of the World he kākahu koroneihana i whakaawehia e ngā Motu o Cayman. Ko te tae mā e whakamahara ana ki te onepū mā paura me te wai mārama o ngā motu e toru. Ko te āhua parirau e tohu ana ki ngā miriona manuhiri ka rere ki te Karipiana ia tau. Ka mahia ā-ringa te kākahu i ngā papanga pēnei i te spandex me te reihi, me ngā sequin me ngā huruhuru hei whakapaipai. Ko ngā wāhanga whakairo ka whakapou ki te waea whakarewa ka herea ki tētahi tikanga motuhake. - Āhuatanga Motuhake
- The design has two main design foundations – the color and the shape. The white is reflective of the white powder sand that creates the beaches around the Cayman Islands. This design's wing shape represents the millions of tourists who take a flight to experience one of the gems of the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands.
- Tūtohu
- Costume, Carnival, Cayman, Wings, Nature,
- Hangarau Whakanao
- This design was handmade from scratch, using a combination of various fabrics such as spandex, lace, and other embellishments such as sequins and feathers. The foundation that created the sculpted piece is framed with metal wire and bonded using a special technique.
- Wero Hoahoa
- The hardest part was the time and effort to sculpt the design with the metal wire. This took an extensive period of time to sculpt, frame, and secure before the fabric base could be applied.
- Rangahau
- This design was created on Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands. The designer's view each morning created the visuals that underpinned the design. The piece was created with a direct view of the ocean to inspire the design. The designer has spent many years observing this part of the Cayman Islands.
- Whakaaweawe
- The Cayman Islands, which are three small islands in the Caribbean, considered a top tourist destination in the region, inspired this design. These three islands' natural beauty attracts millions of tourists every year for their pristine beaches and healthy marine environment. The predominant white color of the costume represents that the crystal-like water, the powder white sands, and the purity of the Cayman Islands.
- Roanga o te Kaupapa
- The project started in July 2018 and was completed in Dec 2019 in the Cayman Islands.
