Exocet 다기능 의자 소개

엑소세(Exocet)는 발틱 자작나무와 알루미늄으로 제작된 다기능 의자이다. 이 의자는 동일한 형태의 곡선형 슬랫들을 중앙 원통을 중심으로 조립하여 완성된다. 하나의 기본 슬랫 형태만을 사용함으로써 효율적인 제작 공정이 가능하다. 엑소세는 일반 의자, 흔들리는 라운지 체어, 접힌 형태 등 여러 구성으로 설정할 수 있다. 형태를 변경하려면 사용자가 손잡이로 압력을 풀고 각 부분을 원통 주위로 이동시킨 후 손잡이를 다시 조이면 된다. 그 결과, 매우 적은 수의 부품으로 다양한 자세를 구현하는 의자가 탄생했다.

고유 특성: EXOCET is a new concept chair. Its unique & clever design allows to transform it in order to get the desired shape. The EXOCET is crafted from a single main piece, a slat. A series of identical slats assembly is simply rotated on a cylinder.

디자인 과제: Finding solution to limit friction as much as possible. To select the proper material to produce the cylinder and handles to avoid deterioration.
연구: The slat shape was the key element. It was imperative to design the slat so that it would maximize comfort through the various possible positions.
영감: It started with a simple questioning. Can we create a long chair offering more than 3 back positions? And can it rock as well? And can it be made of very few pieces? Could a chair be designed using smooth curves instead hard straight lines? And most importantly, can it be simple yet innovative & elegant? I started designing with one obsession using only one basic shape allowing a very efficient fabrication process.
프로젝트 기간: The project started in July 2014. The first hand made prototype was created in August 2014. The first public exhibition took place in Toronto at the Interior Design Show in January 22 to 25, 2015.
운영 흐름: You can transform it by releasing the pressure with the handle. You move the section around the cylinder to create the desired configuration and you tighten the handle.
