Design Interview

28 June 2024 · Corso Packaging per Rum

The inspiration was the facets of diamonds. The idea was to create something remarkable and unique.

My main focus was to create the base shape of the bottle and try to avoid doing something that already exists.

The future plan is to use this achievement to promote and make design better every day.

The concept took around 2 weeks to get done.

I had this idea in mind and decided to bring it to reality.

At the moment i'm thinking about selling the project.

Designing package was always a thing that i loved, so i decided to do something without a client changing the design for something that i don't like. So it was 100% my view.

This was only by myself.

The targeted customer are people that want something very specific and premium and are willing to pay for it.

Probably the fact of using the very unique and premium shape.

The name came from the Corsair word. A privateer or corsair (from the Italian "corsaro": ship commander who attacks ships) was someone who, by mission or through a government's charter (or letter of marque), was authorized to plunder ships from another nation, taking advantage of the fact that commercial transactions were based, at the time, on the material transfer of wealth. Theoretically, he was a legal pirate, recognized by international law.

I used 3Ds Max and Vray, Illustrator was used to do the vectors and Photoshop for retouch.

I believe that's the concept of the bottle itself.

This was only by myself. I worked on everything.

Nothing too much specific.

I did a great research on Behance and Pinterest mainly to grab some references.

Modelling the shape of the bottle was very challenging, and also understand how the light affects the shape leaded into a lot of tests.

I've been submiting works to A'Design Awards for years, i believe that's a great way to promote the works.

I learned to don't skip the steps on the project, on this case in specific i was always back to some step to refine. I'm a bit perfeccionist also, sometimes i think that the project will never be done, this is something that i always trying to improve.

I believe that's all! Thank you!

Design Interview

28 October 2021 · Spiderweb Key Visual

Everything was inspired by wild elements and the nature. As well by the product features, creating sort of connection.

The focus was showing the product in a way that the image still simple but bring a lot the attention

Its spreading the word to the world

Was around 1 month.

I was trying to make somethng original that at the same time shows the features of the product. Like the grip and wild nature. It was a comissioned work.

The design is being used by the company in agreement with me.

I think that my background on the shoe market gave me all necessary to understand the client needs.

I this case was only me, and Caique, that did the retouch. But the whole idea was from my side.

Are the guys that make tracking and outdoor sports. And that clients that just love this life style as well.

I think that is the simple idea, i never seen something with this same idea before.
So at the first contact is a chock at the first view.

Nothing particular, just the first thing that came to my head.

Was 3ds Max, Vray and Photoshop.

The idea probably, by the use of the web element.

Was only me and Caique, that did the post production.

Just old school 3d polygon modelling, without any plugins or something like that.

No, was just my feeling and the aknowledge on how this market works.

The most complex part was modelling the shoe itself, is something complex to do, and a lot time consuming.

Was a easy choice, i won the competition last year and it was very good in terms of recognition.

At that moment was my most complex model to do, this helped me a lot in another projects that i did later.

All good! Everything was covered.

Design Legend Interview

21 October 2019

I have always been passionate about drawing, at the encouragement of my parents I graduated in Graphic Design, since then I have learned as a self-taught and have taken some online courses with great masters like Grant Warwick.

I think the biggest incentive is to be able to impact people's lives in a positive way and in this goal to cross the boundaries of each job.

I choosed to become one.

I love packaging design.

Firstly have a lot of focus and willpower. Willpower leads even the least talented to their goals.

Knowledge of the basics, critical sense and willpower for sure.

The feeling that nothing is left and the power to touch people, cause sensations.

The value of good design is inherent in the value it can bring to your customer, both financially and in touching the heart of their customers.

The value of good design is inherent in the value it can bring to your customer, both financially and in arousing desires in their customers.

I have a lot of projects in mind. It's very difficult to tell about one. All autoral projects.

No secrets, just focus and persistence.

Grant Warwick, Vitaly Bulgarov, Ian Spriggs, Billelis, Alexander Kuskov, there's so many!
Some Guys from Brazil also, as Rafael Vallaperde, Milton Menezes, from Lightfarm, Antropus, Guzz Soares.

I really love Vitaly Bulgarov's designs. Its models have enormous personality and complexity.

I thik it's the Fly Boot Project, that won the Platinum Award on A`Design Awards.

Study every day in your life, at least for 10 minuts, if you just have this time.

I don't know, maybe businessman at my father's computer store.

It is the way to transform feeling into image and vice versa.

For sure my parents and my wife Carla.

I think my persistence. I don't think i'm talented, it's just a bit of critical sense and a lot of persistence.

I the city i live the clients don't understand very well the value of a good design. These obstacle is very difficult to broke.

I think only when they are at least 99% sure that version is the final one.

It's a animation video for other shoe company. A job that i'm doing right now. i's my first time doing a full animation, so maybe I don't know what to expect myself.

I didn't plan much, I'm living day by day.

Certainly expect me to always deliver something more than expected.

It may sound capitalist, but design is often about money, and that's not bad. Large companies need employees, who may eventually start their companies later. But of course it can be applied directly to social causes, such as that of animals, for example, which I identify with. The more value you generate from your work, the greater the social impact, which many people don't seem to understand.

In a animation for a shoe company. This is my first full animation that i do by myself.

I think the packaging design. It's one of the most purest form of design function applied.

The dissemination of information trought internet.

VR maybe.

It is very variable, but usually about 2 or 3 weeks.

I always start with references searching.

Redo it until it become good.

Both. But i think good designs always set the trends inside his own market.

I'm a technology buff, so technology involves everything from the equipment i use to work to the visual I use in many designs.

A ryzen 7 with a 1070ti and 24gb of ram and a Cintiq 24hd.

Color is one of the most important things in design as it is linked to our most primitive instincts. Just like the tactile sensations that comes through the material. When we reach these instincts we are on the right track.

"Heyy, how you did this?"

Certainly the feeling that I wish I had done that.

It is certainly someone who knows how to share and listen and especially criticize. That mainly shares the same willpower. So yes, i believe in co-design.

My ex professors and partners such Fernando Garróz, João Maurício and Otávio Silveira, that i have contact at least every day. These guys opened my eyes for 3D and for the importance of the theory.

Color and Light by James Gurney.

Studying every day and always revisiting the basics.

Da Vinci, the most creative mind of all times.

I am not famous, but i feel very happy for the recognition. It shows that I'm on the right track.

Color: black, place: my home, food: steak, season: winter, brand: Adidas.

The funny moments are always when the project is approved without any alteration.

I think the award is a great motivation, and surprising people becomes addictive.

Not even a little, but i loved to draw.

Maybe a world with a lot of machines doing our works, but the human made design will have a lot of value.

I don't know, but i am very receptive, so if somebody want to talk with me, feel free to contact me.

Designer Interview

28 October 2021

I graduated in graphic design and since 2006 i worked as art director in design agencies in my city. Time ago i started to work as a freelancer doing jobs for great Brazilian clients.

Morgan Studio is situated in Franca, SP here in Brazil. The studio is focused in 3d and product visualization.

Is a form to translate sensation trough image.

Key visual for product and packaging also.

It's Fly Boot key art. The first i had nominated in A'Design Awards and was a very pleasant project to do.

Was a product design for a shoe industry.

3d softwares overall like 3ds Max and Zbrush.

At night in my bed just before sleeping.

The sensory and composition aspects.

A little anxiety at first, then the process becomes satisfying as it goes right

Relief (because sometimes the process is very exhausting) and pride. But pride begins to disappear as I begin to think about what I might have done differently.

When the sensory message is achieved.

The feeling that design was able to pass at the end and the composition or diagramation aspects.

The designer is a keeper of a message the company want to show for your public. A good designer can translate this message trough the art.

I think the VR and 3d printing are the future of design.

I had some exposure in university time, but it was a long time ago. If it goes well, my next will be in Milan.

In general classic paintings, that always have great composition ang lighting technics.

As a generalist i always have to change my style. But i always think about the sensation the art brings at first.

I live in Brazil, a strong cultural country. But i don't stuck with just brazilian culture to do my arts, the design nowadays started to be more global and multicultural.

I work by my design studio.

A good designer can be versatile and able to break design rules whenever necessary.

My process start with reference research and then i start some composition tests.

Ironically i don't have appealing design items at home.

I start usually at 8am and finish at 18h pm. But as a studio owner i have some flexibility, so it's not a routine.

Always use the reference image and learn the basics until you are experienced.

A good designer can be recognized such an artist and have some benefits with this. But in general is very hard to be well paid and this work can be a lot time consuming.

It's the composition. Arts with poor composition are always poor appealing.

Lighting, color, composition and diagramation skills.

3d softwares overall. I'm not a assidual book reader so everything i learn is online.

I try to always wake up at 8am and try to focus at work time, avoiding distractions.

A good design takes about 2 or 3 weeks.

Where i learned my skills and the softwares i use.

Was the Fly Boot key visual.

Vivo, Amanco, Editora Abril (4Rodas, Superinteressante and Mundo Estranho magazines), Vedacit.

I love packaging design. I consider that is one of more important form of design.

Is to participate some competitions and show my work worldwide.

I worked with a team with 2 members, but nowadays is just me and some partners. Sometimes we do the work together and sometimes not.

For now i am working in a 3d motion but the job started right now and there's not too much to talk yet.

My personal e-mail is: contact@morganstd.com feel free to contact me there

No, everthing is ok, thank you!

Grand Interview

22 October 2025 · Kallucci Boot La Grafica Chiave 3D

Due the strong caracteristic of the rock we can bring the main aspect of the product, the durability, at the same time we use the product on a environment that resembles the environmente which it's made for. The crystals bring atention the the break of the silhouette and the colors, that's stands out.

It's very hard to resemble the real product without the use of the scanning. The hardest part it's to not make look like a CAD file, and find the best balance between realism and perfection. The experience helped a lot to understand what are the aspects that are important to keep and what things we can correct, like we usualy do on photo retouch.

I always use this strategy to convey the ideal feeling to customers. I believe that the image need to be self explanatory at some point, even if the concept is something more abstract. The complex thing is to understand how far we can go on the idea, without leaving the produc visualization aside.

The idea was to use a element to break out the silhouette, in contrast with the rocks, attracting the views to see the whole image. At the same time they direct the look to the product.

These are two complex disciplines apart, about the product itself it's more about understanding how the product is made and the behavior of each material, like leather, rubber and etc. About the concept is more about searching for references and composition study.

I had many years working as Art Director in local agencies, so it helped me to understand how to use certain elements and visual choices to make the product stand out for the specific client that i need to reach, not leaving the product visualization aside.

I had a lot of photograpy experience, while working on design studios. So this working background made me understand better the lights and also the best lens to use on each situation. On this case i wanted to use a more dramatic light on the concept. On the textures i was focused on mimic the real world materials, without deviations.

I usually try to understand the media that the work will be used mostly, do it leads to chose between a more comples or less complex visuals, and how much time the customer have on each media to absorv the information. O this case i wanted a more straight forward concept.

It was very good, a lot of repercussion, a lot of people started to get the work as reference and reach me out for doing something for their brands, leading to new works.

I think that the footwear industry have benefited a lot for the use of 3D images, it makes everything possible. With the use of the 3D you have more lot control over the product aspect and since it's done it's easier to produce new stuff. And will still be used for a long time, even with the AI, because the AI at this moment can't replicate the product exactly as it is in real word.
