Design Details
- Unique Properties
- The common area adopts an open layout to lay a broad space foundation. In response to the preferences of the owner, the design thinking with light color and simple style is used, to give the public area clean, not messy and comfortable atmosphere.Three bedrooms are set in the private area. The master bedroom has a curved half-wall to delimit the dressing room, and the compartment is deliberately not completed, so that the master bedroom retains the space permeability and bright sense.
- Inspiration
- For the imagination of the new home, the owner expects the environment with complete life functions and simple atmosphere. Therefore, in this case, we not only create enough storage space, but also outline a simple interior aesthetics based on the modern style. Considering the future growth needs of young children, we plan a multi-functional room that can be transformed at any time, which plan the future needs of two adults and two children.
- Research
- For the owners’ requirement of sufficient storage space, in addition to creating shoe cabinets, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets and other infrastructure, the storage space is expanded from three aspects. When planning the common area, the shoe cabinet and the side cabinet are used to form an integrated shape, combining and hiding the storage space as a place for luggage and household items.
- Challenge
- In order to find different materials that can match each other in color and texture, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of various building materials and invest time and effort to use them flexibly. Taking the living area as an example, for the purpose of creating harmonious spatial colors, the colors used in living room and kitchen must echo each other to avoid the chaotic and abrupt visual feelings. Therefore, the grey color is used to connect the TV wall cabinet and the middle island, and the dining side cabinet is matched with the color of the sofa background wall.
- Realization and Technology
- The storage function is met through the specially customized hanging TV cabinet, which does not cover the entire wall, but also meets the storage needs of living room, while reduces the visual and spatial oppressing sense, to create an open living moving line. In addition to the combination of partial open design, TV cabinet achieves the purpose of lightweight. With the width change of doors, it solves the rigid feeling, and creates variability, and then with the linear lights, embedded lights, and lights in the cabinet.
- Operation and Interaction
- The open public area makes the interaction between the family members more direct. To continue this concept, it deliberately connects the table with the island; in addition to increasing the space for preparing meals, the table can also be used as a temporary play area or learning table for children, so that parents can take care of the children while cooking.

- The project started in January 2023 and finished in October 2023 in Taichung City.
