Design Details
- Unique Properties
- This project is a private residence with an area of over 800 square meters. It is located on the east side of Anyue Road, Pazhou Tower Park, Haizhu District, Guangzhou, facing the bustling CBD and the iconic Guangzhou Tower, known as the "Slim Waist."
- Inspiration
- The design concept is inspired by the relationship between space, order, and light and shadow. It emphasizes the interaction between light and space. Through the arrangement of spatial lines and colors, light and shadow are well used to enhance the flexibility of the space and create an atmospheric ambiance. The design aims to go beyond functional requirements and provide users with an immersive experience, allowing them to feel the vitality conveyed by the space.
- Research
- The designer skillfully integrated Chinese Bagua elements into a French-inspired luxurious setting, incorporating simplified designs of Bagua patterns and adding metal rivets to the details. This not only enhanced the overall sense of enclosure in the space but also addressed the client's specific emphasis on Feng Shui considerations. Through the meticulous selection of exquisite soft furnishings and the particular use of delicate material textures, the designer masterfully imbues the living space with a sense of nobility, inviting the discerning homeowner to savor an exceptional sensory experience that embodies their elevated lifestyle and unwavering attitude.
- Challenge
- The curved feature of the entrance foyer is crafted using a single piece of high-quality Fish Belly White marble, which was carefully selected from the raw material in the quarry in Shuitou, Fujian. To ensure a seamless installation, the entire curved surface spanning over 2 meters was meticulously assembled with only two visible joints. Given the challenges associated with installing large-scale stone materials, a precise measurement and a support system were employed. These measures allowed for the flawless installation and seamless integration of the curved marble feature into the overall design.
- Realization and Technology
- Each space division and design adhere to energy efficiency, material conservation, low-carbon, and environmental friendliness, with layouts carefully planned to create a sense of spatial hierarchy. A dual ventilation system with passive cooling and ventilation caps is adopted to prevent excessive temperatures during summer. Mechanical ventilation systems are employed to minimize heat loss and meet the ventilation requirement during winter. Moreover, the thermal resistance system is integrated into the ceiling, allowing for the absorption or release of heat, to regulate the indoor temperature.
- Operation and Interaction
- With a deep understanding and respect for intangible elegance, this design seeks to embody and perpetuate this sense of dignity. It goes beyond creating a space; it becomes a place where life unfolds and a vessel for cultural and spiritual expression. It represents a refined and sensitive appreciation of life, characterized by a casual elegance that withstands the test of time. Here, one can relax, read, enjoy a cup of tea, engage in conversations, and admire the beauty of the surrounding landscape and nature. It exudes freshness, fluidity, and tranquility.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project started in the year 2020 in Guangzhou and finished in December 2022.
- Specifications
- The entrance, the first space upon transitioning from the public area, serves as a buffer zone. The gracefully curved, 2-meter-long wall exudes an inviting sense of inclusivity with its elegant lines and active contours. The juxtaposition of the textured fish belly white marble and the gleaming metallic foyer installation creates a visually striking contrast. Moreover, the deliberate differentiation in flooring materials emphasizes the seamless flow between spaces, elevating the visual impact and enriching the overall spatial composition.
