Design Details
- Unique Properties
- Choosing pink spinels not only reflects the romantic color palette of spring but also showcases the often overlooked beauty of these small and irregular gemstones. The style of these brooches is flat design, emphasizing the minimalist use of simple elements and flat colors. Each of them is semi-circular and can be combined to form a geometric circle, with the pink part representing a petal. There are various ways to wear them - you can wear them in different combinations or just wear one of them.
- Inspiration
- This design aims to capture the essence of spring blooming and provide a soothing and stress-relieving experience.
- Research
- The study on value factors of colored gemstones reveals that gemstones that are small in size and have irregular shapes are considered to have low value. As a result, the purchase rate of these gemstones in the retail market is very low. However, the designer of this collection can appreciate their beauty and uniqueness from a different perspective and showcase it with this pair of brooches. These brooches depict pink flowers blooming in spring using a flat design style. Their purpose is to evoke a sense of nature and alleviate people's stress.
- Challenge
- The gemstones used for this collection are irregular in shape and have the same color. They also need to have the same quality. It took a significant amount of time to find and acquire them from the market.
- Realization and Technology
- The process begins by creating a sketch and rendering. Next, a CAD drawing is created, and then the piece is cast in 18K white gold. After casting, the item is polished and final adjustments are made to achieve the perfect appearance. The collection is set in 18K white gold and features 5.724cts of pink spinel and 0.376cts of diamonds. The total weight is 14.345g.
- Operation and Interaction
- To wear the brooch, start by pulling out the top of one pin, then, press the other pin to the side of the hook. Attach the brooch to your clothes by pinning it on, and finally, press the pin back and the top back. They can be worn in different combinations or just worn individually.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project started in October 2022 in Zhejiang and finished in August 2023 in Yunnan China.
