About The Mask That Ate The Virus Mascherina che elimina i virus

Design Challenge
Finding the right materials and printing technology that would allow for a highly accurate production needed for the animation to work.
Research
To bring the virus-eliminating process to life in the packaging, we made use of a century old technique: Moiré Animation – creating an optical illusion of animated frames, with the graphic depiction of a virus getting 'eaten' in the process.
Inspiration
Swiss biotech company Livinguard developed a textile for reusable masks that inactivates bacteria, fungi, and viruses (incl. Covid 19) upon impact.

The product idea is brought to life in the packaging:
The mask comes in a sterile package. An attached plastic strip animates – when slid up and down – a virus that is getting eaten in the process, adding some urgently needed humor in desperate days.
Project Duration
The product was launched in May 2020. Up to date 5 Million masks were produced. Market: China/Worldwide
Operation Flow
The task was to communicate a new, unique product advantage to the consumer via the packaging: that a simple textile can provide protection, every single day.
