About The Board Skateboard
The Board è uno skateboard pieghevole progettato per essere trasportato e riposto con facilità. La tavola è composta da 57 cerniere a perno interconnesse. Piegando le cerniere in una direzione o nell'altra, la classica forma da cruiser si trasforma in un cerchio perfetto. Nella configurazione circolare, The Board entra in uno zaino e può essere riposto in spazi ristretti o esposto in casa come oggetto decorativo. Nella realizzazione sono impiegati alluminio, ferro e plastica. Il processo di trasformazione conferisce al progetto un evidente fascino visivo.

- Biggest challenges was manufacturing its complex dynamic structure and is considering open-sourcing the design as a DIY kit for 3D printers.
- Research
- Transformation is not just the change in appearance, but also the consideration of factors such as space, time, and circumstance to strengthen the purpose of transformation and the psychological level. In today’s product design, in order to make transformable products satisfy the users’ need, the designers usually introduce the transformable features to make them easy to carry and multifunctional simultaneously.
- Inspiration
- Most of the users have the stereotype in the usage of the products. If we get rid of the general form changing, there will be a different scenario for the users. The form changing process gives the users visual feeling and the intensity of it will be different depend on the various structures.
- Project Duration
- The design start in 2018 finish in 2019 July.
- Operation Flow
- The skateboard is made from 57 interlocking pivot hinges, by folding the hinges one direction or the other, transforming the classic cruiser shape into a perfect circle. Easy to fit in smaller places and even used for decoration.
