Design Legend Interview

I studied Jewellery Design and hold a Master's in Luxury Jewellery Brand Management from Birmingham City University.

I'm motivated by beauty, storytelling, and the power of jewellery to express identity.

I chose this path with passion—design has always felt natural to me.

I design fine and fashion jewellery, and I’d love to focus more on bespoke bridal pieces.

Stay curious, work hard, build your own voice, and don’t copy—create.

A great designer goes beyond aesthetics—they create emotional connection.

A really good design solves a problem beautifully and feels timeless.

Good design enhances life—it’s an investment in quality and meaning.

I'd design a meaningful, luxury piece for a strong woman who inspires others.

A high jewellery collection inspired by Persian mythology and poetry.

My secret is storytelling—every piece has a soul.

I admire designers like Elsa Peretti, JAR, and Wallace Chan.

I love Peretti’s bone cuff—simple, sensual, unforgettable.

My sister and my university mentors—constant support and belief.

Consistency, risk-taking, and staying true to my artistic voice.

Financial insecurity, self-doubt, and not being taken seriously.

With strong storytelling, clear visuals, and a confident voice.

I'm developing a mixed-material collection combining silver and silk.

To build a global jewellery brand that inspires individuality.

Originality, attention to detail, and depth in concept.

Design shapes culture, empowers identity, and drives sustainability.

I’m excited about launching my handmade paper jewellery experiment.

Custom pieces for real clients—emotional stories bring the most joy.

More support for independent designers and ethical practices.

Towards tech-integrated, sustainable and emotionally intelligent design.

From days to weeks—depends on the complexity.

With research, moodboards, and visualizing the person I’m designing for.

Design with soul, build with purpose.

Design leads—but it listens too.

Technology helps bring visions to life precisely and efficiently.

RhinoGold, MatrixGold, Photoshop, and a 3D printer.

They’re everything—they evoke feeling and shape perception.

I wish they’d ask why I made a certain design decision.

I wonder about the story, the maker, and the purpose.

A like-minded creative who shares the same values—yes, co-design works.

My mentors, clients, and artisans I’ve worked with.

“Jewelry Concepts & Technology” by Oppi Untracht—rich knowledge.

Practice, feedback, competitions, and staying humble.

I’d love to talk to Alexander McQueen—his mind fascinates me.

Awards are humbling—I try not to let them define me.

Black, Florence, Persian food, spring, my sketchbook, and Cartier.

I once wore two different earrings to a jury presentation—no one noticed!

Seeing an idea become a real piece—it’s magical.

Yes—I was always crafting, sketching, and styling my dolls.

I hope design becomes more connected to nature and emotion.

I design with feeling. I hope my work empowers and connects with your story.

Designer Interview

24 May 2025

I’ve always been drawn to art and design, especially the way jewellery can tell a story and express identity. I studied jewellery design and later earned a Master's in Luxury Jewellery Management at Birmingham City University. For over a decade, I’ve worked as a designer, constantly evolving my style. Becoming a designer wasn’t a choice it felt natural. Creating jewellery is how I express emotion, culture, and beauty in a wearable form.

My brand, Tanin D, is a reflection of my personal design journey—where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary storytelling. I focus on creating meaningful, handcrafted jewellery that blends cultural influence with modern elegance. Each piece is designed with attention to detail and individuality, often inspired by emotion, memory, and form. The studio is a space where art and narrative come together to create timeless, wearable pieces.

For me, design is a way of translating emotion, thought, and identity into something tangible. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about meaning, intention, and connection. In jewellery, every line, form, and material choice tells a story. Design is how I communicate without words.

Design should have storytelling, inspiration or telling a new story.

Contemporary ring that I design for my collection life under microscope, each piece inspired from harmony of instruction of tiny cell from human under microscope.

It was a rings inspired from organic shape. It was 2 rings connected together by 3 chains. I design this for Ana gold gallery.

It was last year 2024 September London Olympia jewellery show and Imight be exbahit for the next one in London as well.

My creativity and inspiration usually come from the stories that is in my mind, the issue or the happiness I face in my life.

All of my design ideas have a story behind, whether it’s for mass market or for artistic purpose. I made engagement ring collection for mass market inspired from flowers and I won award for high commercial collection of the year in United Kingdom 2024.

I live in United Kingdom at the moment. It’s good for me because uk have a lots of international people and I it’s easy for me to connect with big designers in the world.

I was a freelance designer until I moved to UK and i started position at Hockley mint as a new product developer after I graduated my masters luxury jewelry management.

The 3 month probation period it’s very important.

First I have a story in my mind, then I try to bring it on a paper, then trying to make a 3D modeling and then send the file to 3d printer for prototype. If all it’s good I will send it to casting.

I’m not sure.

It’s like a normal day like every one but I try to have a nice breakfast because make me more productive and help me to have a creative mind.

If you wanna be perfect at something practice thousands times

Practice makes you perfect.
Read and watch and get inspired.

Creative mind. Learning about the downtime and happiness.

That’s a good question, I love to play most with control points, curves are so important

I love designing and I am pretty fast at designing

For me it depends how complex is the design but usually between 1to 3 hours
