Design Legend Interview

28 April 2018

I studied architecture and graduated in master degree.

I am really interested in shapes, colors, forms, and materials and these all are the main reason which led me to design.

I chose to be an architect and designer when I was a kid because I was so interested in buildings and constructions. And I chose to study architecture and become a designer.

I design interiors nowadays and it makes me think more about furniture and because of it, I love to design furniture more.

Actually, I am not a design legend but, young designers like me or students should read more and practice. Because the combination of these two will open their minds and let them dream and design more.

A good designer thinks about good things but, great designer thinks about great things.

The idea and the function are the most important thing which makes a design good or bad.

there are so many aspects and benefits behind of the idea of each individual good designs and they should be supported by people because designs are for making better living spaces for people.

I got inspired by many legend architects and designers like, Le Corbusier, Mies Van Der Rohe, Mario Botta, Alvaro Siza, Charles Eames and Philip Stark.

Designer Interview

25 April 2018

When I was a kid I was so interested in painting and drawing. During the teenage years, I started to make handicraft and some of that crafts were tiny house models. That house models ignited my passion to be an architect and design houses and that is my background in art and design.

Kartez Architects is an architecture and interior designing studio which I had found with my two friends. at the Kartez we practice delivering a good-finished and unique architectural designs and interiors. Kartez(ՔԱՐՏԵԶ) in Armenian means "Plan".

To me design is, making decisions based on knowledge of classic art (composition, drawing, sculpting) and chemistry(materials).

Mostly I like to design Houses and furniture.

I really like to use concrete and metal in architectural or furniture designs.

Aesthetics and functionality are the most important aspects which every designer must focus more.

The most important thing in every individual design is having the idea. A greater idea you have, a greater design you will have.

I think the most important aspect of a design is the idea. Then the way of introducing the design like the shape and form, technologies, colors etc. which are the character of a design

Designers are like leaders and were always one step ahead of the society and this is the reason why should designers think and care more about society and environment.

I have never participated in exhibitions before but now I am thinking to participate exhibitions prepared by A'Design Award group for showing my latest work the 'Saguaro' cloth hanger which has been granted Bronze A'Design Award 2017-2018 in furniture and homeware category.

I hate chaos and this holds me in the way of simplicity. I always tried to find things in very simple ways and also design and create in very simple forms with less chaotic shapes.

I live in Tehran, Iran. Like every country in the world, culture plays very important and effective role during the process of thinking and designing and I can not say that culture does not affect on my designs but I try to find a way to combine traditional and new ages design styles.

As a designer, I am always interested in work and communicate with people and companies.

Always I start with reading, collecting information and recognize the problem. this could take a very long time and plays the most important part of a design process and then I check all possible and impossible forms and that I start to design.

Table and desks, chairs, flower pots, lights, and carpets

Mostly I use pen and markers for sketching ideas and then I start to complete it in CG software.

I am working on a furniture set which will be released soon.
