Interview with Małgorzata Sobocinska-Kiss

Designer Interview

7 February 2025

I wanted to be a designer and I choose the studies on Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw where I’ve done the master degree and Academyof Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland where I've done my PhD. One year ago I and my coleagues started with new scientific magazine on graphic design and new media "dsignn".

I'm freelance designer and tutor on Graphics Department on WIT Academy.

Design makes an influence and changes human lifes.

I am graphic designer and I mainly deal with wayfinding and corporate identity designing.

I've designed a "Waycludi" wayfinding system. I think its well designed and I'm proud of it.

It was so many years ago, so I dont remember.

I work on computer programmes.

I feel the most creative on the bigining of the project.

I focus most on accessibility for people with reduced functionality.

I feel joy and creativity while designing.

I am proud of what I've created.

A project is successful when it is implemented and users are satisfied.

At the beginning, I always pay attention to the readability of the information, and then to the aesthetics of the design.

The designer should pay attention to the usability of the design and adapting them to the needs of users.

As Western societies getting older, the designer should pay attention to the usability of the design and adapting it to the needs of older users, because they will be the main recipients of his designs.

My last exhibition was in Pruszków, Poland. I didnt planned next one yet.

It depends on the type of project I create.

My designs are largely practical, although depending on the type of project, I adapt its style to the circumstances.

I try to work reliably and on time. In my opinion, good cooperation with the client depends on it.

It depends on the company's management and is different each time.

I usually design from the big end to the detail as the project progresses.

I don't have any favorite items

Since I have a family - a husband, three children and a dog, my day starts with morning coffee. To get all things done, I have to be well organized. As an academic lecturer, I also have longer holidays, which allows me to gather strength for work.

A designer must be reliable, diligent, attentive to the needs of others and try to solve design problems.

A positive aspect is acting in constant creativity. A negative aspect is often the unstable situation in the industry.

A designer must be reliable, diligent, attentive to the needs of others and try to solve design problems.

A designer should first of all notice details.

I always use Adobe Creative Cloud and Affinity Package.

This is a difficult question to answer. It depends on the type of project.

I will answer in the same way as with the previous question. It depends on the type of project.

How much does it costs?

Now I work as a creative director on scientific design magazine. It's a very inspiring experience.

My main client is WIT Academy. I'm curator and designer of best diplomas exhibition and

No I love to design the magazine layout.

As a member of editorial team I'm working on next issue of our "dsignn" magazine.

It depends on the kind of the project.
