Designer Interview

18 April 2016

I come from a family of architects and architecture and design was a natural choice for me as a profession. The whole experience of creating something that betters people's lives was an interesting thought.

Lovekar Design Associates is a boutique Architecture and Interior design studio based in Pune, India. We were a highly detail and design oriented organization that has won numerous awards at the national level.

Design for me is the power to be able to change someone's life for good by your creation.

We like to design residences, corporate offices and educational institutes.

The Rai House is our favorite design.

We designed an office for a Construction company.

Our favorite materials are wood and stone

While working on the details of a project.

We focus on the detailing

It's an exhilarating experience.

Most satisfying .

Adherence to the location , the climate and to pure thinking is imperative to a successful design.

Whether it fulfills what it is designed for and it achieves it.

A designer is the society's tool to a better environment and to a better lifestyle. Hence his responsibilities are serious and actions of high moral consequence.

The future of design is phenomenal, with the world opening up to enormous possibilities.

My source of inspiration is nature and the place i have grown up in , INDIA.

MY design style is Contemporary, minimalistic , modern and suitable and pertaining to the modern Indian user.

I am an Indian and i stay in INDIA, which has a fantastic culture of the arts and architecture. I feel that though we may look unto to world leaders in architectural practice and design, your own roots and culture plays the most important part in your role as an architect.

Companies should select designers based on purity of thought and integrity to the design

Our design process is simple… we design taking into consideration the demographic location of the project, hence the climate we are going to subject our project to and the requirements given by the client. The design then is an easy outcome if you design with a pure mind.

My favorite design items are clocks by Muji and Ikea, ethnic Indian sarees ( which have great design value) worn by my wife and handcrafted items collected from over the world

A typical day is spent designing in office , with a couple of meetings with contractors or clients thrown in and a site visit if necessary. Evenings are spent in contemplation with Indian classical music playing in the background

Young designers, especially in the developing countries, need to be focussed of the design developments back home rather than just copying work being done in the developed countries… Integrity to location, climate, local materials is of utmost importance while designing.

I think there are only positives at this stage…. to be able to design and change the way people live or work is a strong tool that i am very happy to have.

The golden rule is purity of thought.

Analytical and sketching skills are important.

Sketchbook and a 4B pencil

By doing it all the time…. the thought process is eternal

How do you select colors and the design concept?

Designing a campus for a KG school

I enjoy detailing part of design

More work…. till i retire

We work as a team
