Design Legend Interview

21 April 2023

I completed my Master of Graphic Design in Osaka University of Art, directed byYoshimaru Takahashi.

I studied in design as an undergraduate, and my graduate tutor Yoshimaru influenced me a lot. I wish I could become a designer like him.

I chose to become a designer. I love design, and I'm pleased to create something beautiful.

For now, I focus on book packaging, binding and font, and keep on there aspects in the future.

A good design must be created with heart and soul, it should be outstanding in all aspects such as its expression, practicability or decoration.

Good design brings change on lifestyle, user experience, even the way how human think and understand the world, so centainly it's meaningful to invest design.

I'd like to spend time on my own research and designing something relevant.

Way too many. I'd like to collaborate with different projects in all kinds of fields, so that I can learn many kinds of knowledge, like a pack rat.

Tiny details in daily life is the key to open the design inspration.

My tutor, Yoshimaru Takahashi.

I believe the measure of how to judge a design good or not is designer's horizon. Designers should open their mind, gather experience in daily life to increase their comprehension of design and beauty.

I might become a vet, it's so profitable.

I believe design is about making a solution, it's essential to take both function and aesthetic into consideration.

My tutor, Yoshimaru Takahashi.

I don't think I have a ultimate goal. I prefer to set my small goals for different stages, to see how far I can go.

Sociaty is Changed by design all the time. Japanese pay attention to design a lot, when I studied there I could deeply feel the convenience how design

With the development of AI,the entry barries of design will be much higher than before. I think designers who only have basic skills will be substituted in this industry.

I'm afarid that I don't have an answer, maybe from two or three day up to several months. It depends on the difficulty of project, and my working condition.

I will start with picking up ideals from my inspiration library.

I'm always anxious about something. If I don't have any project or product in process, I will be even more anxious. So maybe I don't need any encouragement, my anxity pushes me to keep moving.

I don't think so, when I was a child I want to become a musician.

Designer Interview

23 April 2023

Design is what I have been working on, and it’s also the way I realize my self-value.

I’d like to design something related to my research, using design as way to express some social issues.

I pay more attention to design something which can be finished completely. Sometimes I come up with good ideals, but there are various limitations make things impossible to pull off, so when I design a project, I care about feasibility first.

To realize my own design is something I have been looking forward to. After completing one project, I will look forward to the realization of the next one. This anticipation solved most of my anxiety.

I’m not good at judging the quality of a design rationally, such as in-depth analysis of its creativity or research of its concept. I prefer to pay more attention to the overall sense of the picture at the first glance. I think design is to convey the audience with works, rather than understand the content through text interpretation, and I think the overall effect of the picture is the most important thing to reflect the design and aesthetic skills.

My design inspiration comes from details in daily life. Additionally, when my inspiration is exhausted, I often read some papers. Through the understanding of other fields unrelated to design, usually I will have some interesting inspirations.

I think the most important thing for a designer is to cultivate the sense of beauty. Aesthetics can help a design be visually correct. Therefore, we need to see more, think more, and accumulate the sense of beauty all the time.

I think the most important thing is the ability to capture information and process information. Mastering this ability helps us get ideas for design quickly.

There is no definite answer to the question of this question, but I know that good design must take time to settle.

I'm supposed to do a visual book about time perception, which entirely written and designed by myself.
