Designer of the Day Interview

17 May 2026

I am the founder and design director of Creative Space Design in Taiwan. Over the years, I have focused on interior architecture and spatial strategy, creating human-centered environments that balance aesthetics, functionality, and emotional value. My work includes corporate headquarters, luxury residences, public facilities, and large-scale turnkey projects. In recent years, I have placed greater emphasis on ESG principles, sustainability, and workplace wellbeing, integrating long-term social and environmental responsibility into spatial design.

I became interested in design because I was deeply curious about how spaces influence emotions and human behavior. Over time, this curiosity evolved into a professional commitment to improving people’s lives through design. I was never only interested in decoration or visual appearance; I was more fascinated by how architecture, materials, lighting, and circulation could shape relationships, wellbeing, and daily experiences. This belief still guides my work today.

The most important priority in my design process is always the human experience within the space. Every project begins with understanding the client’s culture, operational needs, and emotional expectations. I combine spatial analysis, environmental strategy, material research, and refined detailing to create spaces that are both functional and emotionally engaging. My design style is contemporary and minimal, yet warm and timeless. I especially value natural materials, daylight integration, balanced proportions, and spaces that create calmness and emotional connection.

Designing is both exciting and deeply reflective for me. I enjoy transforming abstract ideas into real spatial experiences, but I also feel a strong sense of responsibility because design can directly influence people’s daily lives. The most rewarding moment is when a completed space genuinely improves how people feel, work, communicate, or interact with one another. That emotional response is more meaningful to me than visual impact alone.

Working across residential, corporate, and public-sector projects has greatly shaped my understanding of design responsibility. In particular, large-scale public projects taught me the importance of long-term thinking, interdisciplinary coordination, and social impact. These experiences reinforced my belief that good design should not only pursue aesthetics, but also contribute positively to society, sustainability, and future generations.

I hope to continue evolving my practice from a traditional interior design studio into a multidisciplinary design brand that integrates ESG strategy, sustainability, and spatial innovation. In the future, I would like to participate in more international projects, expand research into healthy workplaces and biophilic environments, and create spaces that foster stronger emotional and social connections between people.

I would encourage young designers to focus not only on visual style, but also on understanding people, society, and environmental responsibility. Design is not simply about appearance; it is about solving problems and creating meaningful experiences. Curiosity, empathy, patience, and continuous learning are far more important than following short-term trends.

I believe designers should remain authentic and avoid designing only for trends or awards. Meaningful design comes from understanding human needs and maintaining long-term values. Recognition may come later, but work that carries emotional depth, social responsibility, and sincerity will always leave a lasting impact.

My daily routine usually begins with reviewing project progress and communicating with clients and team members. I spend a large portion of my day balancing design creativity with practical problem-solving, from discussing construction details on-site to refining spatial concepts in the studio.

I also dedicate time to understanding how people truly interact with a space. Whether it is a corporate headquarters, a public institution, or a residential project, I believe good design should improve the user’s emotional experience and quality of life.

Even during busy days, I try to keep observing details in daily life, nature, architecture, and human behavior, because inspiration often comes from real experiences rather than trends alone.

I pay attention to global design trends, but I do not blindly follow them. I believe trends are temporary, while good design should remain meaningful and timeless.

What matters more to me is understanding how society, technology, sustainability, and human behavior are evolving. For example, ESG, wellness, flexible workplaces, and emotional connection within spaces are becoming increasingly important in contemporary design.

I prefer creating spaces with long-term value rather than designs that only look fashionable for a short period of time.

For me, a well-designed project is not only visually attractive, but also emotionally meaningful and functionally successful.

I evaluate design by asking several questions:
Does the space truly improve the user’s experience?
Does it solve problems effectively?
Can people feel comfortable, inspired, and emotionally connected within the environment?

A successful design should balance aesthetics, practicality, sustainability, and human-centered thinking. If users continue to feel positive emotions in the space years later, I believe the project has achieved its purpose.

I believe design is never absolutely perfect, but there is a moment when the space feels balanced both emotionally and functionally.

I know a project is ready when every element supports the overall concept naturally, without unnecessary decoration or excessive complexity. At the same time, the design must remain practical, buildable, and comfortable for the people who will actually use the space.

For me, completion is not only about visual satisfaction, but also about whether the project can create lasting value for its users.

One of the most meaningful projects I have completed is an ESG-oriented corporate headquarters for a Taiwanese electronics company. The project integrated sustainability, employee wellbeing, smart technology, and human-centered workplace design into a large-scale office environment.

The space includes green walls, energy-efficient systems, wellness facilities, collaborative areas, and flexible working environments designed to strengthen emotional connection and employee belonging.

Another important project is a recently completed workplace design for the Taipei City Government, where we focused on creating a modern, efficient, and people-friendly administrative environment while balancing professionalism, sustainability, and comfort.

Beyond commercial projects, I am also deeply touched by residential projects that carry emotional value for families and communities.

I admire designers who are able to balance aesthetics, humanity, and timeless thinking. Rather than following a single designer, I am inspired by architects and creators who can create emotional resonance through space.

I particularly appreciate works that respect nature, human behavior, and cultural context. I believe truly influential design is not about visual exaggeration, but about creating meaningful experiences that people can genuinely feel.

Living in Taiwan has influenced my design philosophy deeply. Taiwan is a place where modern urban life coexists closely with nature, culture, and human warmth. This balance continuously inspires my approach to spatial design.

In my daily life, I enjoy observing how people interact with spaces, cities, and environments. I believe culture is reflected through details, emotions, and human relationships rather than only visual symbols.

These experiences help me create spaces that feel calm, approachable, and emotionally connected to people.

My business philosophy is strongly client-oriented. I always try to understand projects from the client’s perspective and solve problems through both design and communication.

At the same time, I believe successful design should not only satisfy functional requirements, but also create emotional value and long-term impact for users and society.

Within our studio, we value teamwork, responsibility, attention to detail, and continuous improvement. I encourage open communication because every project is the result of collaboration between designers, clients, consultants, and builders.

I believe design has a responsibility beyond aesthetics. Through my projects, I try to create healthier, more sustainable, and emotionally supportive environments for people.

Many of my recent works focus on ESG principles, workplace wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and improving human interaction within spaces. I believe good design can positively influence both individuals and communities.

As a designer, I hope my work can contribute not only to visual beauty, but also to social value and long-term environmental awareness.

Participating in international design awards has given me the opportunity to reflect on my work from a broader global perspective.

The A’ Design Award platform not only recognizes creativity and innovation, but also encourages designers to think more deeply about social responsibility, sustainability, and the future of design.

For me, the experience has been meaningful because it allows Taiwanese design to be seen internationally while also motivating me to continue improving and creating projects with greater long-term value.

Designer Interview

15 May 2026

Design has always been a way for me to communicate emotions, values, and human experiences through space. From an early stage, I was fascinated by how architecture and interiors could influence people’s feelings and behaviors. Over the years, I developed a strong interest in spatial storytelling, material harmony, and human-centered environments. My professional journey gradually evolved into creating spaces that balance aesthetics, functionality, and emotional connection. Today, I continue to pursue design as a meaningful dialogue between people, culture, and the built environment.

Creative Space Design is a Taiwan-based interior architecture and spatial design studio specializing in corporate headquarters, commercial environments, hospitality, and public projects. The studio focuses on integrating aesthetics, sustainability, functionality, and emotional value into every project. With a strong emphasis on ESG-oriented thinking and human-centered design, the company aims to create spaces that improve both operational efficiency and user well-being. Our works often combine refined materiality, environmental awareness, and contemporary spatial clarity.

Design is the process of transforming human needs, emotions, and aspirations into meaningful spatial experiences. Good design should not only solve practical problems, but also create emotional resonance and improve quality of life. For me, design is a balance between beauty, sustainability, functionality, and human connection.

I particularly enjoy designing corporate headquarters, public spaces, and projects that carry social value and long-term impact. These projects allow us to integrate sustainability, human well-being, brand identity, and spatial innovation into a unified experience. I also appreciate projects where architecture and interior design can create emotional and cultural dialogue.

One of my favorite projects is Green Pulse Corporate Headquarters, an ESG-oriented workplace designed to enhance environmental awareness and employee well-being. The project integrates daylight circulation, moss walls, adaptive lighting systems, and flexible collaboration areas to create a healthier and more inspiring working environment. What makes this project meaningful is its ability to combine sustainability with emotional comfort and operational functionality.

One of my earliest professional projects involved designing a commercial interior environment that emphasized functionality, circulation efficiency, and visual identity. Although relatively modest in scale, the project taught me how thoughtful spatial planning can directly influence human interaction and operational performance.

I appreciate natural and sustainable materials such as mineral coatings, wood textures, stone surfaces, and environmentally responsible finishes. I am also interested in adaptive lighting systems and energy-efficient technologies that improve comfort while reducing environmental impact. Technology should quietly enhance human experience rather than dominate it.

I often feel most creative during quiet moments of observation, especially when analyzing how people interact with spaces in everyday life. Traveling, experiencing architecture, and observing natural light and materials also inspire new ideas and perspectives.

I focus strongly on human experience, spatial clarity, circulation, proportion, material harmony, and emotional atmosphere. Sustainability and long-term usability are also essential considerations. A successful design should remain meaningful and functional over time.

Designing is both exciting and deeply reflective for me. I feel curiosity, responsibility, and anticipation throughout the process. Each project represents an opportunity to create environments that positively influence people’s lives and experiences.

When a design becomes reality, I feel grateful and fulfilled. Seeing people genuinely enjoy and connect with a completed space is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a designer. It is especially meaningful when a project improves well-being, communication, or organizational culture.

A successful design creates meaningful value for people while balancing functionality, aesthetics, sustainability, and emotional resonance. Good design should solve problems naturally, remain timeless, and positively impact both users and the surrounding environment.

I first consider whether the design genuinely improves human experience and fulfills its intended purpose. Beyond visual appearance, I evaluate spatial logic, usability, emotional atmosphere, sustainability, and how thoughtfully the design responds to its context and users.

Designers have a responsibility to create spaces that are environmentally conscious, socially inclusive, and beneficial to human well-being. Design decisions influence how people live, work, and interact with the world. Therefore, designers should carefully consider sustainability, accessibility, emotional health, and long-term environmental impact.

The design field is evolving toward a more human-centered and sustainability-driven future. Designers are increasingly expected to address environmental responsibility, wellness, flexibility, and social impact. I believe future design will integrate technology more seamlessly while maintaining emotional warmth and human connection.

Our recent works have been presented through international design awards, publications, and media platforms. In the future, I hope to participate in more international exhibitions that focus on sustainable architecture, workplace innovation, and contemporary spatial culture.

My inspiration often comes from observing nature, architecture, urban culture, and human behavior. Traveling and experiencing different environments help broaden my perspective. I also draw inspiration from material textures, natural light, contemporary art, and the emotional qualities of space.

My design style emphasizes clarity, balance, emotional warmth, and environmental awareness. I prefer creating spaces that feel calm, refined, and timeless rather than overly decorative. My approach combines human-centered thinking, sustainability, spatial efficiency, and material harmony to create environments that support both functionality and emotional well-being.

I live and work in Taiwan, a place where traditional culture and contemporary urban development coexist closely. Taiwanese culture values human relationships, adaptability, and craftsmanship, which strongly influence my design perspective. The diversity and density of urban environments in Taiwan also encourage creative problem-solving and spatial efficiency.

I believe successful collaboration begins with listening carefully to the client’s goals, culture, and long-term vision. Our process emphasizes communication, trust, and strategic thinking. We work closely with clients throughout the project to ensure that the final design reflects both operational needs and emotional identity.

Companies should choose designers based not only on visual style, but also on communication ability, problem-solving skills, and understanding of human experience. A good designer listens carefully, understands organizational culture, and creates long-term value beyond aesthetics.

Our design process begins with research, observation, and understanding the client’s goals and user behaviors. We then develop spatial concepts, circulation strategies, material selections, and emotional narratives. Throughout the process, we continuously refine the balance between aesthetics, sustainability, functionality, and human experience.

My favorite design items include a carefully crafted wooden chair, architectural books, ambient lighting fixtures, natural stone objects, and artworks that create emotional calmness within the living environment.

A typical day includes project discussions, design development, reviewing drawings and materials, communicating with clients and construction teams, and observing how spaces evolve during implementation. I also spend time researching architecture, design trends, and sustainable innovations to continuously expand my perspective.

Young designers should focus on understanding people rather than pursuing trends alone. Observation, empathy, patience, and continuous learning are essential. Design is not only about visual expression; it is about creating meaningful value and improving everyday life.

One of the greatest positives is the ability to shape environments that influence people’s lives and emotions. Design can create long-lasting social and cultural value. The challenge is balancing creativity, budgets, timelines, technical limitations, and diverse stakeholder expectations while maintaining design integrity.

Design should always begin with people and end with meaningful human experience.

Empathy, observation, communication, problem-solving, and the ability to integrate aesthetics with functionality are essential skills for designers. Adaptability and continuous curiosity are also very important in an evolving design environment.

Our studio utilizes professional design software, 3D visualization tools, material libraries, lighting studies, and physical samples throughout the design process. Beyond digital tools, books on architecture, travel experiences, nature, art, and real-world observation remain important sources of inspiration.

Time management requires clear priorities, disciplined scheduling, and strong communication within the design team. We divide complex projects into manageable stages while maintaining flexibility for creative refinement and unexpected challenges.

The timeline varies depending on project scale and complexity. Interior and architectural projects require research, conceptual development, technical coordination, and construction supervision, which may take several months or longer. Thoughtful design requires patience and careful refinement.

Clients often ask how design can improve both functionality and emotional comfort at the same time. I believe the best spaces successfully integrate both aspects in a natural and balanced way.

One of the most meaningful experiences was leading large-scale corporate and public projects that required balancing aesthetics, sustainability, technical coordination, and organizational culture. These experiences strengthened my understanding of how design can influence both people and society.

Our clients include corporate headquarters, technology companies, public institutions, commercial brands, and private clients who value thoughtful, human-centered, and sustainable design solutions.

I especially enjoy projects that combine architecture, interior space, sustainability, and social value. These projects provide opportunities to create environments that positively influence both organizational culture and everyday human experience.

I hope to continue developing projects that integrate sustainability, wellness, and contemporary spatial innovation while expanding international recognition through global design platforms and collaborations.

Design is always a collaborative process. While I guide the overall vision and design direction, successful projects are achieved through teamwork among designers, consultants, engineers, craftsmen, and clients.

Our studio is currently working on several corporate and public projects that focus on sustainability, human well-being, and contemporary workplace transformation. We are particularly interested in how spatial design can support future working environments and social interaction.
