Tentang Good Day Kursi Santai Chaise Lounge
Good Day adalah kursi santai chaise lounge yang dirancang untuk bersantai. Dudukannya dibuat dari aluminium cetak pasir (sand cast) dan digantungkan pada palang silang aluminium yang ditopang oleh kaki-kaki cetak yang lebih berat, sehingga dudukan tampak ringan sementara bagian dasarnya tetap kokoh menapak. Rangka baja internal dicetak menyatu di tempat untuk memperkuat dudukan yang tipis. Bantalan kulitnya dibentuk di atas cetakan, sehingga tidak ada jahitan atau sambungan yang terlihat. Magnet yang tertanam di dalam bagian cetakan dan di dalam bantalan menjaga bantalan tetap pada tempatnya serta memudahkan pelepasan untuk pembersihan atau penggantian kulit. Kursi ini berukuran lebar 635 mm, dalam 1600 mm, dan tinggi 830 mm.

- The aluminum seat is suspended from an aluminum crossbar and leg structure. The leather pads are formed to produce a clean look without stitching or seams.

- The aluminum seat and legs are sand cast aluminum. The seat and legs are painted or polished depending on the look. The seat pads have a vacuum formed backer laminated with foam. The leather is formed over a mold to achieve a clean look. Magnets are embedded in the casting and seat pad to keep the pads secure to the frame and allow for easy removal for cleaning.
- Tantangan Desain
- The structure of the aluminum frame suspended under a leg structure proved an interesting engineering challenge. Creating the seat frame from cast aluminum was not only heavy, but also not structurally sound. An internal steel frame weldment was designed to be cast in place with the aluminum casting. In order to achieve pads without stitching or seams, forms were created to wet form leather into the seat shape. The leather was then adhered to the leather pads for a clean stitch free look to match the simplicity of the aluminum frame.
- Riset
- An ergonomic model was created that allows for adjustment of length and angle of the seat, leg, back and lumbar. Adjusting the angles and length of the components allowed for the geometry to be tested by various users for maximum comfort. The chaise lounge is an experiential chair where the focus is on the comfort for relaxation. The seat and back angles were selected to give the user a sense of suspension and solitude while relaxing in the chair.
- Inspirasi
- The Good Day was inspired by two artists recording a song in the music studio. The two complimented each other’s artistic styles with a play between powerful and smooth. Watching them create, I sketched a low-lying lounge chair with a thin floating seat suspended under a crossbar attached to heavier structural legs. The seat would appear light and floating, yet grounded by the thicker leg structure.
- Durasi Proyek
- The lounge chair was first sketched February 2020 in a recording studio in Seattle, Washington USA. The prototype was completed in Seattle in September 2021.
- Alur Operasi
- The lounge chair is static, but the leather pads are removable for cleaning and maintenance. The removable pads also provide the ability to change the look of the lounge chair with alternate leather colors or materials. The pads are held in place by magnets embedded in the aluminum frame and pads.
