Nus is in wenhûs lizzend op Kreta, Grikelân. In U-foarmich haadfolume is kombinearre mei in ûndergrûnske gastewente. Beide folumes maksimalisearje de sûdeastlike sinneblatstelling en reagearje op de feroarjende hoeke fan de sinne troch de seizoenen hinne. Twa sinneromtes, ien mei fêste skaadwurking en ien mei draaiende sinneblinen en in massawand, soargje foar natuerlike ferwaarming en ôfkuolling. In grien dak, wateroerflakken, in ventilaasjeskacht en kontrolearre dakiepeningen ferbetterje it termysk komfort. Sinnepanielen, sinneboilers en in geotermysk systeem ferminderje de enerzjyfuotprint.

Unike Eigenskippen: The main criteria for the architectural decisions made, were the need for low energy footprint building designs, as well as the views towards pure Cretan nature. Τhe main U shaped residence along with the underground guest house volume, maximize the southeast exposure of the building, while they are taking advantage of the different angle of the sun rays during the seasonal cycles.

Produksjetechnology: For natural heating and cooling, we created two solar spaces, one with fixed shading, one with rotating blinds and a mass wall. Water surfaces on the south walls, the green roof, the hiding of the western light, the vertical ventilation shaft with small openings towards the North and the controlled shading roof openings, lead to thermal comfort conditions. Photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters and the vertical geothermal system, contribute to minimize the building’s ecological footprint.
Ynspiraasje: We believe in the integration of buildings into nature. Humble design tones present with more challenging architectural solutions, that take into account the sustainability and the ecological footprint of our built environment. Furthermore, the Cretan nature and landscape only needs a good frame to be appreciated or no frame at all. And this is what we did here. Minimum sq.meters, natural materials and welcoming volume decisions.
