The Animal Backbone on Shanghaissa sijaitseva vähittäismyymälän sisustus historiallisessa rakennuksessa, joka toimi aikoinaan teurastamona ja on nykyään kulttuuri- ja luovan alan keskus. Tila on kooltaan 100 neliömetriä, ja se on rakennettu metallilevystä, peilistä ja lasista. Pohjaratkaisu seuraa kissan kulkureittiä, ja ympyrä jakaa tilan sisä- ja ulkoalueisiin.
