2008 Special Artistic Director of "Taipei Flower Expo Dream Hall Exhibition Space Planning"
The head of the master plan of the "Hsinchu County Community Planner Seed Training and Organizational Plan".

Since childhood, I have always loved art as an expression of nature. After I grew up, and found it was impossible to truly mimic the emotion and power of nature, I began to realize that people are touched by nature because of its intangible energy, rather than its actual color and shape. Thus, I would like to transfer the invisible energy of nature into visible art works. By creating public artwork based on this principle, I can share my feelings, inspired by the natural world, with all observers of and in the world.

Solve important problems, solve beautifully, and at the same time be enlightening.

I can feel the flow of inner energy and the interactions with the universe.

I live in Taiwan and have been deeply influenced by ancient Chinese philosophy and culture. At the same time, I have been exposed to the beauty of ancient Chinese art.

I would like to do more public art works. I always feel our modern lifestyle gives people more stress and negative energy because we are far away from nature. I am focusing on creating positive energy and strong aura for the environment to purify and comfort people’s spirits.

I think that young designers should pay attention to what touches their heart in daily lives, pass the positive energy to other people. The most important goal for young designers is to find a specific issue they want to figure out for the world and help people see the beauty of lives.

I would like to help people to see the bound between the nature and human beings; at the same time, I can use my works to change people’s perspectives about life.

I will meditate once I get up, and I spend time companying with my kids. If I have time, I will take a walk to the forest nearby my house or to the old town in order to look for ideas.

I will consider whether this design inspire people and the environment or not.

Good design is inspiring people and aesthetic.

I get inspiration from the nature, and I would like to transfer the invisible aura into concrete art works.

My works : “Flow With the Spirit of Water”
Iutian Tsai’s artworks have a transformative function. He sets out to alter the negative charge of an environment by introducing cradles of positive energetic vibrations through the balance, harmony and flow of his sculptures. Often community environments are polluted by the inter- and intrapersonal dissonances of their inhabitants which results in visible and invisible chaos in the surroundings. The unconscious effect of this disorder is that inhabitants regress into restlessness. This habitual and cyclical agitation influences body, mind and spirit.
Iutian Tsai’s series of work, “Flow with the spirit of water”, guide, groom, purify and strengthen the positive “chi” of a space, focusing on pleasant and peaceful outcomes. With a subtle shift in their environment, the public is guided towards a balance between their inner and external realities, and are allowed to rest there.

The man who created nature.

Mornings and evenings inspire me the most. I take a walk in the forest and observe the changing of light, temperature, smell, sound and etc...
Life is full of pressure and depression. And combined with the tangible and intangible effects of negative energy from the environment, people are often inexplicably irritable.

For that reason I often think about what effect my work has and whether it would make people feel comfortable and happy. If my sculptures can guide, purify and enhance the positive “qi” in the atmosphere, it can help heal and create harmony and calm.

My wish is that people will not only use their eyes to see the artwork, but also use their hearts to experience its invisible energy. Just imagine: If we remove the wood of a sculpture, or the stone, or the stainless steel, if we could remove all the tangible material - it would be like taking away all our distracting thoughts of fame, wealth and attachment. Even the body can be emptied. Only when our hearts are relaxed and empty can energy flow freely.

I was inspired by the words of Teacher Jiang Meng: "Water is the spirit and jade is the soul."

A spirit of water is one of continuous flow. With its environment constantly changing, the energy of water is endless.

A jade soul is like a raw mineral that has been tested by high temperature and pressure, moisturized by water and tempered finally to bring about transformation into a beautiful jade gemstone.

Perhaps I am driven by an uncompromising resistance to admit defeat. If the environment is not good, I will find a way to beautify it. Life is hard, and I want to find a way to get rid of suffering.

After winning the award, Mr. Jiang Xun reminded me of Zhuangzi’s words: Clever people busy themselves with work. Intelligent people worry. But the ignorant ask for nothing - they feast and drift through life, rudderless.
If there is any value in art, I think it should be to awaken in the world a call to return to a pure heart.

Community empowerment. I strongly felt the connection between people and the earth at that time. This kind of life experience will help us to find the roots of lives.

I would like to help people to see the bound between the nature and human beings; at the same time, I can use my works to change people’s perspectives about life.

Since I live in Taiwan, Chinese philosophy has had a great impact on me, especially in lao zi , zhuang zi and Buddhist culture. I majored in Chinese brush painting in university, so I had absorbed the aesthetics of Chinese art works. The material of my sculptures is stainless steel. My works combine western form and east spirit.

Destiny makes me a designer.

Public art works. Public art works are bigger scale than other art forms. As I am thinking the aesthetic, I also have to consider how the works interact with the environment. There are many challenges to involve in creating public art works.

I will consider whether this design inspire people and the environment or not.

Continue to highlight important issues in life, make complex life easier, and make people focus on a better life.

It’s simplifying. Refine the idea out of your thoughts.

Connect with the energy of nature.

Everything happens has its meaning, making me a designer.

In the right place.

I am working on some furniture which present Taiwan imagine. I am looking forward to hearing people’s response.

Can focus more on introducing the energy of nature into the lives of urbanites.

It depends on the client.

At first, I will try to figure out what the main idea is , clarify how to present my idea and moldier works.

Less is more. Especially in 2020.

It depends on how good the design is.

It is just a tool.

The tools I use the most is pencils and paper.

The cost.

Be loved.

Haven't met yet.

The people who full of energy.

It's a good opportunity to make people willing to get to know my works.

All in nature.

Designer Interview

18 November 2020

Since I was a child, I found art interesting, at least more interesting than the things taught in school. Later, I discovered that no matter how natural beauty is simulated, it is impossible to replicate the movement contained in a real scene. It turns out that what moved me was the energy I felt in it, it was nature. The abundant energy that touches me is not pure form, so I concentrate on experiencing and feeling those energies that move me, and transform the energy that I feel into a visible form. This is something I am very interested in. Becoming an artist in the eyes of others provides the opportunity to produce large-scale works and share them with more people.

It has been nearly 20 years since my studio was first established. In the early days, I worked in various media and my projects ranged from graphic design to interior space design. In the past six years, I focused more on public art, and on resolving the psychological challenge of a harmonious interaction between people and the environment.

I think it is to simplify a complicated problem, removing unnecessary clutter, highlighting the most important parts, and inspiring people to reflect.

I'm very interested in projects where people can change their established ideas through design.

What problem must be solved? How can it be resolved? Is it instructive?

I feel a sense of flow.

I feel love.

When it solves important problems, solves it beautifully, and if at the same time it can be enlightening.

I will consider whether this design inspire people and the environment or not.

To find important problems, solve them beautifully, and at the same time enlighten people to pay attention and to love.

I think the future of the design field is to continue to highlight important issues in life, make complex life simple, and make people focus on a better life.

2020 ART Taipei Oct.23~26
Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1
No.5, Sec. 5, Xinyi Rd., Xinyi Dist., Taipei City 110, Taiwan

In 2021 I will take part in MAISON & OBJET in Paris, France.

I feel relaxed in nature and easily inspired by the energy of nature, therefore my creativity is more focused on the transformation of energy.

I explore the various forms of nature's energy, penetrate the inner energy of outer appearances, and bring intangible forms to the fore.

It depends on the case how I cooperate with different companies.

It is important to reach a consensus thorough communication, to determine what problem must be solved. How will it be resolved? Will it be instructive? Also, all parties must try to collaborate on the case..

First I try to understand the key or problem to be dealt with, then clarify how to present it, try to consider it from multiple angles, and simulate the effect of the finished product.

Computer, table, chair, bed, lamp.

I will meditate once I get up, and I spend time companying with my kids. If I have time, I will take a walk to the forest nearby my house or to the old town in order to look for ideas.

Feel the moving energy in life, find out which problems you want to solve, make complex life simple, and help people focus on a better life.

The positive of being a designer is the opportunity to change the world, the negative is the possibility of not being able to achieve it.

Focus on solving important problems, solving it beautifully, and at the same time aim to inspire.

The ability to feel and express.

The tools I use the most is pencils and paper. The only book I leave on the desk is diamond sutra.

I am the type who can focus very easily. I don’t have problems about managing time.

It depends on the client.

How much does it cost?

Community empowerment. I strongly felt the connection between people and the earth at that time. This kind of life experience will help us to find the roots of lives.

Construction companies, entrepreneurs, and the government.

Public art works. Public art works are bigger scale than other art forms. As I am thinking the aesthetic, I also have to consider how the works interact with the environment. There are many challenges to involve in creating public art works.

Through my energy art, more people will notice the connection between natural energy and humanity, it will change people’s views on life, and hopefully change the world for the better.

I complete the sketches, then the team executes the finished product.

My team members and I are making a series of art furniture with the theme The Energy of Formosa, and it is arranged to be exhibited in Paris. I look forward to your response and hope you will like it.

Grand Interview

1 November 2025 · Flow With the Sprit of Water Public Art

Because I’ve found that spending an entire day inside artificial spaces made of concrete boxes makes me feel especially stifled, yet when I go into a forest or rest on the grass under the shade of trees, feeling the breath of the blue sky and white clouds, I become filled with vitality. Therefore, I believe that if we can bring the vibrant frequencies of nature into environments surrounded by glass curtain-wall buildings, it would be a wonderful way to transform negative energy into positive energy. That’s why I translate the energy I experience from nature into abstract, flowing lines to create sculptural works that resonate and harmonize with the natural world.

Because the Chang Yi Technology Industrial Park is a commercial office complex housing thousands, even tens of thousands, of high-tech engineers, their work is often filled with tremendous pressure. The location of the public art installation is on a 20-by-30-meter reflecting pool in front of the park’s clubhouse, which serves as a dining and resting space for these engineers. We hope that the scale of the public artwork can achieve a balanced proportion with the pool, while also providing a strong flow of positive energy to help relieve the engineers’ work-related stress. Ultimately, the sculpture was designed to be 6 meters tall, 8 meters wide, and 5 meters deep in order to create a truly powerful and resonant effect.

I’ve found that conflicts between people—or even within oneself—often arise from dissatisfaction with unmet expectations. If we can guide people to shift their perspective from an internal to an external viewpoint, their way of seeing things may change. However, I believe that trying to achieve this transformation merely through ideas or verbal communication is often futile. The most direct and effective way is through sensory experience. When people are moved by a feeling that’s different from anything they’ve felt before, their perspective has a chance to change.Through the use of mirrored stainless steel and flowing lines, I hope to reflect the shimmering ripples of water, the changing clouds, and the light and atmosphere from morning to dusk. In doing so, I wish to help people shift their focus from internal conflicts to external sensations of beauty and wonder—creating a moment in which conflict may naturally dissolve.

When we listen to a piece of music, our hearts often respond with waves of emotion or a sense of being moved. I realized that the rhythm and frequency of music influence our emotions deeply. Therefore, when we experience negative emotional fluctuations, we can tune and harmonize ourselves through the resonant frequencies of beautiful music. Inspired by the gestures of a conductor, I sought to express through rhythmic movement a sense of cadence that both soothes the emotions and radiates vitality.

We know that technological development always moves toward making life more convenient and efficient. However, beyond convenience and efficiency, life also encompasses emotional and spiritual needs. Therefore, while pursuing technological progress, we also need rich emotional experiences to guide us in using technology to nourish our inner spirit. Through art, people can gain emotional and spiritual inspiration—serving as an important compass for guiding technology toward enhancing the quality of human life.In particular, by creating a genuine connection with the energy of nature and expressing it through artistic form—allowing light to emerge from imagination, desire, and emotion—I hope the viewers can feel a warm and uplifting power.

I’ve always felt that artistic experience can transcend the boundaries of culture and ethnicity. For example, when I exhibited a series of works in New York, I had two memorable encounters: on separate occasions, two women were moved to tears upon seeing my different pieces. My works have always been abstract in form, without any figurative cultural symbols or narrative elements, yet they were able to evoke deep emotional responses. This experience strengthened my belief that within us, there is always a natural resonance with the frequency of nature. When that frequency is infused into the creative process, it allows the artwork to connect and resonate with people across cultural and racial boundaries.

I’ve always felt that an artist’s perspective and sensitivity can offer people broader and deeper forms of interaction and communication. Therefore, public art in a community space should go beyond mere decorative beauty or visual appeal. It can serve a more profound purpose—by allowing the artist to express feelings or insights that correspond to the community’s environment. Through the artwork, residents can experience new emotions, new thoughts, and new inspiration, bringing renewed vitality to the community and sparking fresh expectations and imagination among its people.

I believe that many viewers who encounter this work in person can intuitively feel a sense of flowing energy. It has, to a great extent, changed their stereotypical perception of public art in the environment. In the past, people often regarded public art as merely decorative landscape elements—something optional and superficial. But when they see this piece, they are often surprised to discover that public art can actually create a sense of emotional release and interaction with its surroundings. The dynamic, vibrant visual tension of the work draws them in, prompting a renewed awareness of the ever-changing environment—the shifts of light from morning to evening, the transitions of the seasons, and the continuous flow of life like moving clouds and water. It reveals that even a stationary stainless-steel sculpture can embody a sense of motion and vitality, offering people a fresh and inspiring experience of the space around them.

First of all, the form and structure of this work are designed to flow seamlessly from every angle. Combined with its mirrored stainless-steel surface, it easily reflects the ripples and light of the water, while also refracting the sky and surrounding environment from multiple perspectives. Throughout different times of the day and across the changing seasons, the piece reveals ever-shifting patterns of light and shadow, creating a continual sense of movement and transformation.

I believe this work creates a presence in the space that is impossible to ignore. So when those highly stressed engineers finish lunch, take a coffee break, and step outside for a walk by the pool or under the trees, their eyes are naturally drawn to the sculpture. Almost effortlessly, they begin to feel the flowing and vibrant energy it conveys.I’m convinced that, to some extent, it offers them a refreshing contrast to the sense of confinement and tension they experience inside their concrete office boxes. It provides an ideal opportunity to escape that pressure and unease—to relax, release inner anxiety, and shift their focus outward. Through resonating with the natural rhythm and atmosphere of the environment, they can regain an external perspective and reflect more calmly on their inner stress
