Design Interview

2 May 2020 · Pass On Photo Series

Surrounded by newspapers about tragic acidents in my country and the terrible situation of people at war around the world, I felt the need to try, to look for other facets of humanity. Especially and mainly for being a father and seeing as a real obligation to mantain positive feelings and visions and not allowing the disappointments that time steals from me to discourage or prevent the possible gigantic and powerful dreams of new generations. I then believed that the old story of the castaway throwing his last wish into the sea would be a direct, almost childlike way to inspire this photographic series. The first photo was called Hope.

Hope was the main focus of this work. Touch people with good, positive words. The fotos are inspired by the meaning of the words thar for me coul help solve diferente events. Presenting true andu nique images Always photographing the same object was my focus and my biggest challenge.

Photograph as many good words as possible. Some I already have planned, others I still look for the appropriate representation. My dream is to be able to set up na exhibition with this work.

The first photo was taken in 2017, Each image has diferente time frame, from the ide ato its completion, wich involves the production, effects and necessary image processing. In these almost 3 years I took 8 images.

It is a personal project with the main purpose of sharing "good words"

As it is a personal Project, it has been produced in my studio in São Paulo - Brazil, with the competente and generous collaboration of talented professionals. It would be great to have a sponsorship!

Our studio works with commercial photos, but in personal works like this, I believe they are a way of telling stories, my My studio Works with comercial fotos but I believe that personal projects are a good way of telling stories. My way is photography.

My training in photography happened with my work as a photography assistant for admired and generous Brazilian professionals, they certainly influence my work, Willy Biondani and Miro but especially my great teachers, for whom I had the honor and pleasure to be able to assist and participate in a little of the history of these two great Brazilian photographers and artists, Cláudio Elisabetsky and Klaus Mitteldorf, each in their own time, each with their striking style, taught me and gave immeasurable support not only in photography but in life.

In this type of photography I do not believe that there is a target customer, there is the pretension of reaching someone with my story.

I don't know how to answer this

This project would initially call “Best Words” but it changed after watching a scene from Luc Besson's Lucy film, the The initial name was Best Words but it changed after I watched the Luc Besson movie named Lucy. In one of the scenes the main character asks what she should do with all the knowledge acquired and hears the answer: “Share it, pass it on!” . Pass On seemed like the right name to me then, just because it seems the best thing to do with good things, like courage, hope, fraternity...

Computer programs "Capture One" and "Adobe Photoshop"

I don't know how to answer this

These fotos had the colaboration of Regiane Mancini in production and set design, Tiago Matos as a photography assistant and Adilson Tucão and Juliano Jujuba in the treatment of images.

Technology is a fundamental tool in this work, the images presented are the result of the merger of several captures, taken digitally, with Adobe Photoshop post-production.

The inspirational research for this work came from news in newspapers and some movies, but what happened most often were tests and experiments in the studio to achieve the specific and expected visual result.

Always photographing the same object, trying to create non-repetitive images, in addition almost all the photos were taken in the studio and it was necessary to create the solutions and build the mechanisms for the desired result, I believe they are the biggest challenges.

Firstly my desire to have this work known worldwide, and then getting to know other photographic Works presented in previous contests.

Discovering how to set up specific mechanisms to achieve some desired effects was a great learning experience, but it also made the job more fun. Also in these photos the fundamental need for partnerships and collaboration was confirmed once again, I was very lucky in this.
