Design Details
- Unique Properties
- To create a cocoon away from the neon, noisy hustle and bustle of the city, the abode features a calm and restrained dark-toned palette. Natural textures, such as deep brown wood, stone, and textured finishes, are employed to echo the homeowner’s pursuit of a refined quality of life. By reconfiguring the traffic flow and functionality, the living and dining areas are connected seamlessly, forming an expansive shared zone. Curved elements are introduced to soften spatial boundaries, lending a sense of visual continuity while fostering emotional connection among family members.
- Inspiration
- Rather than presenting bold or ostentatious displays, this abode centers on the concept of “restraint.” Through the sharing and reconfiguration of functions, different spatial zones are woven into a unified narrative. The use of a dark-toned palette, curved lines, and the layers of refined materials creates a living environment that soothes the senses and provides a place for the mind to unwind.
- Research
- The public areas are organized around a circular traffic flow, offering flexible movement routes and enhancing spatial fluidity. A feature wall anchors the living room and creates a statement with a wow factor. Open shelving and an electronic fireplace balance the heaviness of the dark palette. With stone as the backdrop, the dining sideboard with a mini bar can be practical for hosting gatherings or enjoying a casual evening at home.
- Challenge
- The bedroom headboard draws inspiration from a skylight. By separating the wall and ceiling and integrating diffused lighting, the design visually extends the ceiling height while reducing any sense of compression. The walk-in closet features dual entrances, creating a smooth and efficient circulation flow thereby enhancing the functionality of the private quarters. The bathroom adopts a light gray palette, contrasting with the darker tones in the public areas and reinforcing a sense of privacy.
- Realization and Technology
- Artistic coating, Imported thin porcelain tiles, Melamine board, Caesarstone, Reeded glass, Grey-tinted glass, Metal elements, Leather, Slatted panels, Magnetic track lighting, LED light strips, Large-format porcelain tiles, Wire-brushed natural wood veneer, Quartz stone
- Operation and Interaction
- The entryway is subtly divided by a fluted glass screen, serving as a gentle spatial buffer to achieve a good feng shui while preserving visual transparency. The public areas adopt a minimalist approach, with the main TV wall positioned at the center of the space, defining zones while offering easy viewing from all angles. Curved ceilings exude elegance and sophistication. In the living room, a framed ceiling with softened, curved edges defines the space. While in the dining area, a curved light membrane diffuses illumination, allowing light to spread evenly and maintain visual purity.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project is finished in October 2025 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
- Specifications
- The project features an interior area of approximately 116 square meters, accommodating three bedrooms, two living areas, and two bathrooms.
