Design Details
- Unique Properties
- This chair is a modern art seat designed for contemporary homes, art spaces, and boutique office environments. It transcends the functional boundaries of traditional seating by deeply integrating aesthetics, ergonomics, and an emotional experience. The chair not only offers comfortable seating but also, through its unique form and materials, creates a spatial narrative that embodies both Eastern philosophical ideas and contemporary aesthetics, providing users with an immersive experience that feels as if they could take flight while seated.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the imagery of sitting as if sprouting black wings, the chair draws on the fluid structure of avian wing bones, mechanical distribution of wing spars, and tension lines of tendons, translating the grace and power of nature into furniture language. It offers a sense of being guarded and supported, symbolizing rest, release, and spiritual freedom from daily routine.
- Research
- Seated in the chair feels like growing obsidian wings, freezing a moment of burgeoning power into static form. Its enveloping wing like structure creates psychological shelter, turning sitting into a posture of gathering momentum. Exploring bionic integration with modern furniture, it balances aesthetics and ergonomics, presenting a design both powerful and poetic.
- Challenge
- The core concept of the design is to transform the imagery of wings providing protection and extension into the form of a chair. The main challenge lies in balancing the lightness of the wing like structure with its load bearing capacity, achieving a fusion of metallic silver lines and matte black textures.
- Realization and Technology
- Using high performance plastic as the base material, it is formed through an integrated process of 3D printing and precision CNC machining, accurately achieving complex surfaces and load bearing structures. The surface is coated with a matte finish and embedded with metal silver wires, balancing lightweight characteristics with excellent load bearing performance.
- Operation and Interaction
- Suitable for modern home living rooms, artistic studies, luxury model rooms, boutique hotel lounges, and creative office spaces. It can serve as a focal art piece for the space, combining practical functionality with visual appeal, and complements a variety of design styles such as luxury, and avant garde.
- Project Duration and Location
- The design had started in Shenyang in January 2025, completed in Shenyang in June 2025, and displayed in the museum of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June in 2025.
- Specifications
- 550 mm × 650 mm × 800 mm, the product manufacturing process includes 3D printing, precision CNC machining, matte black glaze spraying, and metal silver inlay, offering high design freedom with excellent structural strength and lightweight performance.
