Regarding Gordafarid Clothing
Gordafarid is a garment created from reused Persian carpets. Damaged and unusable handwoven carpets form the torso and keep their original structure. The pants are made of linen with the draping technique, inspired by the clothing of Iranian tribes. A headband joins Iranian geometry with the origami technique. A shawl made of metal spring wires and fabric can be given different forms on the body. Variable straps allow changes in size and function. The carpet part can also be hung on a wall or placed on a floor.

Design Details
- Unique Properties
- This dress is a bridge between history and modernity Reusing damaged and unusable handicrafts (Iranian carpets) and introducing them into the fashion industry without changing the original structure of the work, as well as the headband, which is a combination of Iranian geometry and modern origami technique The items have multiple uses, A springy and soft shawl that we can give different forms to on the body . A carpet that can be worn or hung on the wall or placed on the floor as a work of art
- Inspiration
- The inspiration for this design is the expression of courage, freedom and beauty of women against anti-women thinking, who stand amidst the limitations of which the Maripach spring shawl is a symbol of these thoughts, and despite their wounds, which are shown on the torso of the dress with the damaged carpet, they inspire beauty and freedom. Because of the social, cultural and artistic meaning of this work, we named it Gard Afridi, a symbol of a brave and free woman in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh.
- Research
- Research and Investigations: Historical facts about the clothing, arts and crafts of Iranian peoples throughout history have been made according to the different empires, and the commonalities and consequences of each part of their clothing have been considered. For this project, historical books such as the Shahnameh have been referred to in order to better understand the authenticity of Iran and the influential Iranian women, their role and power.
- Challenge
- Our main challenge in this project is how to combine the main concept, i.e. free woman, with the identity of Iranian culture and art, and also the correct interaction of these two concepts with fashion with a modern approach, considering sustainable fashion. Paying attention to the fact that not everything damaged is worthless and can be given meaning and life again by redesigning. And another problem solved by the project is how to transform handicrafts into clothing while maintaining the original structure of the material and its harmony with the body's form and anatomy, which has turned it into a comfortable and stylish garment.
- Realization and Technology
- This garment uses environmentally friendly materials such as linen in the pants and carpet in the torso The pants are made using the draping technique, modeled after the clothing of Iranian tribes. The garment and accessories use variable straps to allow for changing size and function. A combination of metal spring wires and fabric is used to create a flexible and formable scarf.
- Operation and Interaction
- Transmitting a sense of authenticity and beauty using an old Persian carpet, hand-woven trousers inspired by the Persian tribal customs, a red headband worn by Achaemenid warriors after winning a war, and a spring shawl that expresses limiting thinking like a cocoon wrapped around a woman, but a woman with her courage inspires freedom and beauty.
