Design Details

Unique Properties
Crafted with the utmost precision and attention to detail, this masterpiece boasts a fusion of opulence and functionality. Inspired by Art Deco, its rounded edges and embedded door handles exude elegance. Within, discover bespoke features including a double carousel for seamless bottle selection, velvet-lined drawers, and unique glass hanging holders. Handcrafted from the finest walnut veneer and darkened bronze, with in-house metalwork by skilled artisans, this piece epitomizes luxury.
Inspiration
This project was born from a deep appreciation for the timeless elegance of Art Deco design and a passion for creating functional yet luxurious furniture pieces. We aimed to blend classic aesthetics with modern functionality, catering to the discerning tastes of our clientele. Our inspiration stemmed from the desire to elevate the home bar experience, marrying exquisite craftsmanship with practical features.
Research
Our Research Objectives were to understand the needs and preferences of glass collectors for a home bar cabinet. We interviewed the customer-collector himself but we also engaged with glass collectors from diverse backgrounds and demographics, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of user requirements. As result we identified key features desired by glass collectors, such as ample storage, ease of access, and elegant display options. Those insights guided the design process, informing decisions on layout, materials, and functionality.
Challenge
The creative challenge of our project was to design a home bar cabinet that seamlessly integrates luxurious aesthetics with practical functionality, catering specifically to glass collectors with diverse collections. Several obstacles were encountered during development: Historical Perspective: Balancing the timeless elegance of Art Deco design with modern functionality required careful consideration of historical design principles while innovating for contemporary needs. Social Perspective: Understanding the evolving lifestyle trends and preferences of glass collectors within the context of modern living spaces was essential for creating a relevant and desirable product.
Realization and Technology
We sourced the finest materials, including walnut veneer and darkened bronze, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and durability. Our artisans meticulously crafted each component by hand, from the curved cabinet doors to the intricate bottle carousel mechanism. In-house metalworking capabilities enabled us to customize the bronze exterior, employing techniques such as darkening and bending to achieve the desired finish. The marble worktop was carefully selected for its luxurious look and practicality.
Operation and Interaction
By addressing the challenge of accommodating a diverse collection of over 80 glasses, our design offers unparalleled functionality and organization. The thoughtful arrangement of components, coupled with innovative features like the bottle carousel and glass hanging holders, ensures efficient utilization of space without compromising on aesthetics. This meticulous attention to detail and user-centric approach results in a home bar cabinet that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of glass collectors, providing a sophisticated solution for showcasing and accessing their prized possessions.
Project Duration and Location
The project started in September 2022 in Prague and finished in October 2023 in Riga, and was exhibited in design exhibition Design Isle in October 2023.
