Regarding Moon and Chess Mooncake Packaging
Moon and Chess is a mooncake gift box created for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The packaging combines motifs from the Chinese painting Prosperous Suzhou with chess culture. Blue is the main color, complemented by orange, smooth lines and detailed patterns. The outer box unfolds into a table, and the inner box is placed on top to serve tea. Turning the tabletop over reveals a chessboard, where chess pieces can be arranged for a game. Recyclable materials and a waterproof treatment reduce waste. The box measures 30 by 20 by 5 centimeters.

Solution: In line with the Mid-Autumn Festival's theme of "reunion," we propose incorporating the traditional Chinese game of "Chess" into the overall product design. A series of integrated designs were carried out, focusing on using "packaging" as a carrier. Through deconstruction, disassembly, and reassembly, the packaging becomes another product itself.

- Additionally, this packaging reflects the practice of environmental protection, reducing environmental pollution and waste through overall waterproof treatment and the use of recyclable materials.
- Operation and Interaction
- The highlight of Moon and Chess lies in its combination of table and chessboard functionalities. By disassembling and combining from different dimensions, the overall interactivity and fun of the gift box are enhanced. When people open the packaging, they can place the inner box on top of the unfolded outer box, creating a table for enjoying tea. When flipping the tabletop, users can arrange the chess pieces on it and begin an exciting game of chess playing.
