About Cuiwan Zhongcheng Demonstration Zone

Cuiwan Zhongcheng is a demonstration zone and later community center built in Zhengzhou, China. The building stands at the junction of two plots and opens towards the city. The design applies the concept of the Mobius ring, translating a continuous four dimensional form into an open, multi dimensional space that can also serve as a pedestrian bridge. A steel structure supports external walls of hyperboloid aluminum plates, which are made in a factory and assembled on site. All materials used are low carbon, recyclable and environmentally friendly.

Design Details

Unique Properties
From the perspective of the city, the project introduces the concept "Ring of Infinity - Mobius", and fuses the infinite four-dimensional form into the three-dimensional space in an abstract manner, hence creating a continuous, multi-dimensional, open, free, and art park-like venue where citizens can freely communicate with each other.
Inspiration
The project is located at the junction of two plots, unfolding towards the city and showing future architecture, future traffic, future neighborhood and many other life scenes in future community. It is like a stage, giving its great performance and shouldering beautiful imagination about future community as well. It will function as a demonstration area at the early stage and as a "community center" at the later stage.
Research
The thinking from the architecture, the block to the city provides design solution to the project. At the beginning of the design, we paid great attention to the conditions outside the site boundary line, and took into account landscapes, roads, urban resources and surroundings, so as to leave room for future possibilities. Variations in the multi-dimensional form arouse uncertain imagination about the building, full of unexpected surprises.
Challenge
In the market, there are many assumptions and summaries about life scenes in a future community, and many projects have turned future communities into ecological residences. Digging into the deeper needs for future community was the project's biggest challenge. We focused on the dwellers themselves, whilst also forming the complete design logic of "future - youth - a sense of instability - architecture's visualized expression - incorporation of future life scene".
Realization and Technology
All materials used in the project are low-carbon, environment-friendly and recyclable. The building is dominated by steel structure. Hyperboloid aluminum plates, which are applied to the external walls, are customized by factory and then assembled on site, thus avoiding environmental pollution. Hyperboloid aluminum plates are applied to the external walls that seem to grow in a three-dimensional world. This lives up to expectations that the architecture is as energetic as a seed.
Operation and Interaction
The project will function as a demonstration area at the early stage and as a "community center" at the later stage. It can also serve as a pedestrian bridge. The project comprehensively takes present and future utilization needs into consideration, so that the building can be smoothly transformed without alteration The design centers on the future dwellers, and adopts visualization techniques to suit property buyers' spiritual needs, aiming to interact with the buyers and evoke their resonance.
Project Duration and Location
The project started in October 2020 and finished in September 2021 in Zhengzhou, China.
