About Let Parents Stay Anti-poverty Social Design
Let Parents Stay is a typeface based on traditional Han Embroidery, created to support a poverty-stricken village. Jinling Village is home to more than two thousand children left behind by working parents, and many residents are skilled in Han Embroidery. Local embroidery products sold poorly because the patterns had changed little for a hundred years. Classic embroidery elements were abstracted and reconstructed into modern letterforms, which local embroiderers stitch by hand. The aim is to create income and to pass the craft on in a modern visual language.

- Research
- Like most handicrafts, Han embroidery has several problems, for example, a long production cycle, a long time cost, low economic benefit, and poor quality. Also, the traditional Han Embroidery patterns have undergone little to no innovation over the past hundred years, so they can’t meet standards of the modern aesthetic, resulting in low consumer recognition.
- Challenge
