Regarding Formosa Sapphire Scarf

Formosa Sapphire is a silk scarf decorated with a pattern of Swinhoe's Pheasant, a bird species endemic to Taiwan. The design features hand-drawn brush strokes, fine line textures and bright colors. The bird was studied through photographs and reference books, then drawn in detail. The artwork was converted into a vector file to preserve the original strokes and colors, and is applied to silk by digital printing. The scarf measures 650 by 650 millimeters. The intent is to introduce endemic Taiwanese birds to a wider audience and to support awareness of bird conservation.

She advocates freedom, loves to spot new things, and looks forward to taking new challenges. By observing people's lives, social perspectives and personal values, she found that people’s subjective consciousness often influence their judgment. Through this artwork, she created a new scene and new meaning is given to the toilet seat. By doing so, she wants to convey the idea that external value of an entity doesn't mean everything. She approaches people and makes them feel warm with photographing and broadening horizons.

Inspiration
Swinhoe's Pheasant is a kind of endemic species in Taiwan. It is covered in feathers with blue color and its gestures are eye-catching and difficult to see. The designer was once lucky to see the Swinhoe's Pheasant in a mountain, and she was immediately impressed by the animal. She believes these birds should be introduced to the world. At the same time, people can also raise the awareness of endemic species birds conservation.
Research
Since Swinhoe's Pheasant is difficult to find, the designer observed the appearance of the animal through photographs and from the book Wild Bird of Taiwan, then drew the beautiful appearance of the animal delicately.
