More About Talento Unlimited Cabinet

Talento is a tall storage cabinet designed for keeping objects. The structure is made of wood or lacquered wood, and the two doors carry a liquid metal finish with the Unlimited texture. The cabinet measures 1000 millimetres in width, 520 millimetres in depth and 2000 millimetres in height. Rounded edges and a recessed handle define the profile. The composition balances full and empty areas through an alternation of depths and proportions. The textured surface is made with a dedicated silicone mould combined with the liquid metal finish.

About Edoardo Colzani

Born in Cantù in 1973, Edoardo studied at the I.S.Co. (Institute of Communication) of Como, where he graduated in 1997 and, after completing his studies, he starts teaching “Computer Design” and “Industrial Design” from 1998 until 2001. In 2000 he began his professional career alongside Emmanuel Babled in Milan, working independently on several product design projects. In 2001 he opened his own studio in Brianza and starts to collaborate with renowned companies in the "product design" sector, ranging in various fields such as cosmetics, industrial mechanics and furniture.

Design Details

Unique Properties: Talento is a containing unit with a strong visual impact where crafstmanship and design come together in a wise balance of empty and full and an alternation of different depths and proportions. The new "UNLIMITED" texture in liquid metal embellishes and emphasizes the two doors. The rounded edges of the entire structure and the particular recessed handle represent a further detail which highlights the originality of the design. An architectural jewel designed and equipped for storing objects.
Inspiration: I was inspired by the idea of enhancing the shapes of the object without exasperating them and using a simple aesthetic language. A cabinet that is caracterized by a unique surface finishing and a unique surface textured design.
Research: During the designing process, we started from a very simple shape trying to identifieda particular design product combined with a specfcandunique texture design for the surface. The result was really stunning. A unique surface technique combined with the artisan craftmenship.
Challenge: The hardest part of Talento cabinet was to find a solution to realize the unique surface design with a innovative process. This process took one year in design and engineering research because a mould for this particular texture and finishing was not available. The final solution was the creation of a specific silicone mold to defined the surface design combining it with the liquid metal finishing.
Realization and Technology: Tall unit with structure in wood or lacquered wood and doors in "Liquid Metal" finish with "Unlimited" texture.
Operation and Interaction: Every details of this particular cabinet, like the structure's round and smooth profile, is a result of a skillfull craftmenship and has been designed to make the product immediately recognizable.
Project Duration and Location: The project started in Milano in 2018 and ended with the presentation during Milano Design week 2019.
