ব্যালাস্ট্রেড হলো স্বল্পস্থায়ী ও ক্ষণিকের বিশ্রামের জন্য ডিজাইন করা একটি চেয়ার। টেবিলে ভর দিয়ে দাঁড়ানো কিংবা রেলিংয়ে হেলান দেওয়ার মতো অবচেতন আচরণ থেকে এই ডিজাইনের প্রেরণা এসেছে। ব্যালাস্ট্রেড দুটি বসার ভঙ্গি প্রদান করে। প্রথমটি হলো চেয়ারের মতো সরাসরি উপরিভাগে বসা। দ্বিতীয়টি হলো রেলিংয়ে হেলান দেওয়ার মতো একটি ঠেস দেওয়া ভঙ্গি। এর আকৃতি সরল, এবং উদ্দেশ্য দীর্ঘ সময়ের আরাম নয় বরং সংক্ষিপ্ত ব্যবহার। পরিবহনের আয়তন কমাতে একাধিক ইউনিট একের উপর আরেকটি সাজিয়ে রাখা যায়। চেয়ারটির পরিমাপ ৬২০ x ৩৮৫ x ৭২০ মিলিমিটার।
