About Whisper Of Alabaster Residential Interior Design
Whisper of Alabaster is a residential interior design covering 90 square meters in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The layout includes open living and dining areas, a master suite and a multi-functional room. An alabaster palette is combined with wood to create a calm setting. Mineral coatings give the walls texture and durability. Curved ceilings are formed with custom milled carpentry, and the engineered timber flooring is laid in a herringbone pattern. Manual zebra blinds let residents adjust daylight and privacy. Rounded furniture softens the lines of each room.

- Production Technology
- Utilizes mineral coatings for wall durability and texture. Custom CNC-milled carpentry forms the ceiling tiers. Engineered timber flooring in a herringbone pattern ensures structural stability and visual coherence.
- Design Challenge
- The primary challenge involved balancing minimalism with domestic warmth. Depth is achieved by layering textures—mineral paint and timber—within a monochromatic scheme. Precise engineering was required to conceal HVAC systems within low-profile curved ceilings to maximize spatial height.
- Research
- Investigates the impact of neutral tones and curvilinear forms on urban stress. By minimizing visual noise through a monochromatic palette, the project explores interior architecture as a medium for mental restoration.
- Inspiration
- Captures the balance of dawn through the concept of "Ma" (empty space). The design prioritizes daily rituals, allowing domestic life to define the spatial focus rather than ornamental layers.
- Project Duration
- Design phase lasted 2 months and construction 4 months. Completed in 2023. Located in New Taipei City Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- The layout organizes flow between social and private zones. An open kitchen integrates with the living area to facilitate family interaction. Residents control privacy and light intensity through manual zebra blinds, actively shaping their environment.
