About Rackson House Building

Rackson House is an office building created by refurbishing an old structure in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. The existing block retains its heritage roof, verandah, bay windows and stairs, and holds the main spaces. A new extension of steel and glass is inserted without touching the old walls, which remain visible with traces of past interventions. The new block is more open, taller and covered by a glass roof, and contains servicing spaces. A calm reflecting pool meets the base of the glass volume and mirrors the site. Natural light fills the interiors.
