About Delirios Armchair

Delirios is an armchair that combines craft work with digital production methods. The base was designed using parametric waffle programming, a type of 3D modeling that creates a flowing structure joined by fittings. The base is cut by CNC machines from certified multi-laminated wood. The backrest and the seat are made by hand and rest lightly on the wooden structure. The base meets the floor at four points of support. Upholstery is available in leather, wool, thread or cotton. Delirios unites digital technology with Brazilian craft traditions.

Production Technology
Mixing analog and digital, the basis in multi-laminated wood was designed using parametric programming so that the structure could be fluid and fixed by fittings. The fabrication of the structure was made from CNC.
While the upholstered rests by the basis in a light and subtle way, the basis touches the floor through four points of support, also lightly.
Design Challenge
Creating a furniture that, through parametric programming, assembles analog to digital.
Research
Studies on waffle parametric programming to develop the wooden basis.
Inspiration
Delirios came from the desire to experiment with digital technologies together with artisanal methods, in order to unite technological advances with the Brazilian cultural legacy. The name Delirios was chosen as a tribute to Flavio de Carvalho, the Brazilian artist who mixed in his creations design, painting, performances, set design and architecture as powerful social criticism.
Project Duration
The Delirios Armchair was presented at the launch of the Mais55 Design brand in Sao Paulo in June 2020.
Operation Flow
The basis of the armchair is digitally designed using parametric programming and built through the fittings of the cut laminated wood pieces. The backrest subtly rests on the wooden structure, which touches the floor through four supports, also subtly and lightly. A super comfortable armchair with a unique design.
